Located in the heart of Port Moody, Pleasant Coffee is a beautiful, family-run neighbourhood cafe designed to offer the community a space to pause and connect. The vision was to establish a welcoming, relaxed environment where patrons could instantly feel at home. milancpm was brought on board to turn this family dream into a reality, handling everything from permit drawings and city approvals to full project management and construction. Working alongside Interior Designer Clara Tsang, milancpm brought the well-refined, simple aesthetic to life under an incredibly demanding timeline and rigorous budget guidelines.
The goal was to open the doors before the busy summer season to capture peak neighborhood foot traffic, leaving zero margin for construction delays. Construction began in February, requiring milancpm to move swiftly through building permits and construction phases concurrently. Through meticulous coordination and efficient trade management, the entire build-out was successfully completed by the end of April. In just under three months, the raw commercial space was completely transformed into a fully operational, city-approved café ready for its late spring launch.
Every element, from the soft lighting and open counter design to the comfortable seating arrangements, was deliberately chosen to invite community interaction and foster a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. Beyond the guest experience, the layout strategically optimizes the workflow behind the counter, ensuring high-efficiency service capability for the staff during peak morning rushes.
Collaborating closely with Clara Tsang, who led the interior design, milancpmexecuted a space that relies on thoughtful minimalism to create maximum warmth. The design leans on a simple and refined aesthetic, utilizing a clean, intentional color palette, natural wood accents, and minimalist fixtures that maximize the visual layout without bloating the budget.
